It's been a while since I participated in a challenge, so when Lawnscaping came up with this Valentine's Day one, I thought I'd give it a shot:

I love the red, white, pink and cream in the inspiration photo and created this:

I went for something whimsical: a toast on a tyre swing and rolling hills of pink. I thought of the line: 'You make my heart sing' and thought, why not: 'You make my heart swing' hehe :)

Tonight I'm having steamboat with my family. I made these paper dolls - stamped from My Cute Stamps, coloured with copics and paper pieced with Basic Grey's 'Lauderdale'.

Then I popped them up with dimensionals on these simple red packets (ang pow) I created. It is no fun having to give money (instead of once receiving it) but I had fun doing this!

Hey there, remember me? ;) I hope 2012 is treating you well!

This blog has been sorely neglected, but it's one of my resolutions to post in it more regularly which means cardmaking more regularly too. I also want to start some scrapbooking especially to preserve some memories of my rapidly growing and ever changing boys as well as being able to keep the majority of my pretty supplies ;)

In other papercrafting news, I subscribed to the awesome Studio Calico monthly kit and all the gorgeous pieces you get in those bags are inspiring! I have yet to make a dent in any kit. I've only nibbled at a few...

Hi Everyone! :)

I'm still thinking CAS and came up with this set of 3 x 3" mini cards :)

I simply stamped this cute bunny from Unity Stamp with Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate and Coffee Bean, then added sentiments from Paper Smooches. I adore the whimsical font!

I fiddled around with putting ribbon, twine and buttons on these cards, but decided to leave them as they were :)

I am still very much a beginner in the papercrafting world, but as I craft, my style is beginning to show. It's definitely a clean and simple (CAS) style. I love cute images paired with bright colours in a clean design. I also aspire to use more white space and let the colours and images speak for themselves :)

I love this lil monster guy from Paper Smooches and the bold sentiment from Lawn Fawn. I've also found that I love grid backgrounds :) Mini cards are the best! This one is 4 x 4 inches.

Amy Tangerine is my new favourite designer. I am totally in love with her inspiring collection. Her designs and colours are so funky, fresh and adorable. I made this card using: 'Hanging Out', 'Woodness Gracious' papers and the gorgeous 'hello friend' dimensional sticker!

The two little ghosts are from Lawn Fawn's 'Happy Haunting'. They're so cute and look friendly, I thought they'd be a perfect match to the sentiment! :)

As much as I love papercrafting, I am a writer and writing will always come first. If I wasn't writing or struggling to do so (on many occasion when writer's block sets in) I would have a lot more time to make cards and then you'd probably see more posts ;)

Anyway, this year I am privileged to be working with some amazing writers in my novel class. This card is a bit of a tribute to one of these writers whose novel is about the sweetest boy named Jacob :)

I loved using Spellbinders dies to create the frames and also using watercolour paper. It has a nice texture and look to it. 'Jacob' was spelled out with Lawn Fawn's 'Quinn's ABCs'. So fun to paper piece those cute letters!

I'll be back with another novel tribute. Until then, I should start making some new cards as I made these 'novel' cards quite a while ago!

Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows :)

This card makes me happy :) I cased it from a design in the CARDS magazine from this designer. I love this simple design. I'll definitely replicate it with future cards.

The cute chipboard lollipop is from Basic Grey's 'Life of the Party' collection - finished off with some mandarin twine.

I added some lace to give it a bit of a vintage look as I gave this card to my sister who just started a new job and she likes that kind of thing :) The cool congrats sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's 'Just my Type, Too.' Lastly, I used one of Jane's Doodles buttons. Her buttons are so gorgeous. It takes a special card to part with one ;)

Wow, it's been a while since I've updated this blog. Despite being mega busy, I couldn't keep away from the hoard of supplies I have and keep collecting...Crate Paper has come out with some new collections and I can't wait to get them! Anyway, I have been able to make at least four cards since my last post and they've all been fun to make :) I wish I could make cards all the time!

My dad turned 70 recently so I made him this card. He's an Elvis fan, so I incorporated some Elvis into it :) I think one of the reasons I love card making so much is getting to play with beautiful papers and accessories. In this card I went sticker mad ;)

With stickers you can easily whip up a card, although the design took me ages as usual. I used October Afternoon's 'Modern Homemaker' collection for these vintage/50s/60s type images and stamped a Stampin' Up 'Happy Birthday' sentiment on the newspaper as well as using American Crafts thickers chipboard letters for 'dad'.

I think I'll use stickers more often :)

My sister is going to Bali for a holiday so I made her this simple card :)

More fun paper piecing from Basic Grey's 'Sweet Threads' and 'Hello Luscious' collections using Lawn Fawn's 'Swimsuit Season'. I think the colours are perfectly beachy, reminds me of a sunset on a golden beach and a swim in a jade lagoon?

The cool thing is that the bikinis look a lot like the ones I got her for Christmas last time. Great paper matching huh? ;)

Oh, on another note, I'm so happy that my piglet card was featured on the Lawn Fawn blog :) Such an honour!

Paper piecing is by far my most favourite technique in making cards mostly because I am such a paper junkie. Totally addicted to paper! I am in love with Basic Grey's 'Sweet Threads' collection (bought a few paper pads!) that I used in this card I made for my sister :)

Other paper collections I used were Memory Box's 'Brioche' and Basic Grey's 'Hello Luscious' and 'Lemonade'. The pig and chick are from Lawn Fawn's 'Critters on the Farm' set. The sweet 'hugs' sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

I had a lot of fun making this card! :)

What I love so much about the internet is the ability to attend online classes on the other side of the world! It is week 2 of Summer Card Camp 2011 and this is the delicious colour combo I just had to play with:

It's so summery and reminds me of watermelons, refreshing on a hot summer day :) It's cold, wet and miserable in Melbourne at the moment, so it was nice to bring some warmth and happiness to my card. It really cheered me up!

I made this carousel card for a friend's birthday. The gorgeous image and sentiment come from Lawn Fawn's 'Admit One' set - full of carnival goodness! :) It took me ages to come up with that colour combo, but it was a lot of fun to colour all those carousels I stamped out!

The copics I used were: E81 (ivory), R14 (light rouge), R12 (light tea rose), YR14 (caramel) and Y35 (maize). The sentiment looked a little crooked so I tried to balance it out with a small flower. Not sure it worked though, but I'm still happy with the card :)

Whenever I bite into a sweet treat or pass by a bakery, I think of my friend who is a baking goddess. She brings over her divine delights every time she visits. So I thought when she came visiting today (and she came with yummy sticky date pudding and caramel sauce), I would make her something for a change! I used Paper Smooches' 'FOLKal Points' to create this appropriately cute matroyshka card with a popped up pie for her :)

This is probably one of my more elaborate cards that I rarely make because they take awhile, but I hadn't papercrafted for ages and was dying to make a card, so I indulged a bit ;) Check out all the supplies I used! :)

As much as I love making cards, sadly I haven't had much time for it lately due to overwhelmingly tiring and busy renovations which explains the big gap of time between postings!

I had a few friends' birthdays coming up, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to make some cards. This is one of them :)

I used a 1.5 inchie square from Inchie Arts. I love inchies! And because my friend loves seahorses (as I do), I once again used Lawn Fawn's seahorse stamp from 'Critters from the Sea'. I like the clean and simple design. I hope my friend likes it too...

It's freezing in Melbourne at the moment, raining and hailing. Good to stay indoors, so I thought I'd make a card - something warm and cosy to take away the chill outside.

There is something beautiful and peaceful about glowing lanterns on the water. I combined Lawn Fawn's 'Lunar Lights' and the sweet fox from 'Critters in the Forest' and created this card :) The lovely distress inks I used are fiery warm!

I love to shop and Lawn Fawn's 'Say Cheese' polaroid stamp was the perfect framework for my little store :)

I created the door by cutting out the middle of the polaroid stamp image, then roughly cutting two windows and drawing a doorknob. Then I paper-pieced the dress from Lawn Fawn's 'Sew Lovely', added some bling and finished it off with some dusky lanterns against a sponged lavendar background. The gorgeous designer papers are from Memory Box's Brioche collection. I adore the polka dots!

I can't wait to create more little stores - like a book or toy store (besides clothes, I love to shop for these things)! :D

This card would have been perfect for Wee Memories' Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Challenge, but I just missed out so I'll be entering this into the Paper Piecing Challenge at Wee Memories instead:

Rubber duckie, you're the one... You make bathtime lots of fun... Rubber duckie I'm awfully fond of you...

I'm fond of this rubber duckie stamp from Stampin' Up's 'Every Little Bit' set. Such a cute, and wanting-to-be-coloured image! I love my copics but still learning to use them. I must have coloured more than 20 of these ducks.

Copics are all about blending. The green and orange one are blended pretty well. As for the purple one, I think the two shades I chose didn't work or maybe I just didn't blend them properly! :(

I thought I'd follow my Sukie Sweetheart card with Koji Kindness, also from Poppy Stamps.

The designs that I love are clean and simple. This card is an example of that. Just cardstock, stamps and ink! The panel that Koji is on has been sponged with distress ink. I think it's striking and gives the card a nice texture.

I've started using Cryogen White Iridescent cardstock. The photo doesn't pick it up, but it has this beautiful silvery shimmer to it so Koji really glitters! It makes colouring on such gorgeous cardstock even more fun :)

In this card I went for an aged look with Tim Holtz's wonderful distress inks to ink the edges and stamp the background using Poppy stamps' 'Peach Blossom Poem'.

The image of the gorgeous asian girl is also from Poppy Stamps. Her name is 'Sukie Sweetheart' - how cute is that? :D She is a sweetheart! I stamped her in one of my favourite inks: Brilliance Pearlescent chocolate which has this nice gold shimmer to it, then I coloured her face with copics and picked up a bit of distress ink with a blender pen to give some dimension to her clothing. I finished off the card with Japanese Masking Tape or MT as a border and on Sukie's sash. MT is so fun to use! I highly recommend it!

Then of course, twine happy as I am at the moment, I couldn't resist putting on a little bow and pearl!

This is my 'romance' card. I've gotten quite twine happy since my seahorse card post! I love The Twinery's Maraschino twine. It reminds me of candy canes :) Once again I have used Lawn Fawn stamps - the polaroid type frame from Say Cheese is so versatile. I know I'm going to use it heaps.

I'm entering this into the Wee Memories Challenge #51 too since it uses twine :)

I have collected A LOT of stamps, but my favourite brand by far is Lawn Fawn. Their stamps are so cute and whimsical. Totally my style! At the moment, Lawn Fawn are revealing new stamps sets. It's like Christmas! Exciting! I love visiting their blog and watching creator Kelly Marie's delightful videos - she's just as cute as her stamps ;)

Today's card uses the gorgeous seahorse from Critters In The Sea. I adore seahorses and Lawn Fawn have provided the perfect stamp. I decided to enter it into the Wee Memories Challenge #51 which asks to use twine.

I'm still a beginner at papercrafting, having only started less than a year ago, so designing and making cards can take anywhere from 3 hours to half a day! This one took about 3 hours. Just as I am a slow writer, I'm also a slow crafter. Hopefully I'll be speedier one day :)

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved cards and collecting them. I think of cards as mini canvases of art. So it was no surprise hoarding cards finally led to hoarding lovely stamps, papers and inks. Thus began my papercrafting obsession.

Recently I made twelve of the typewriter card you see above, personalising them with the names of my writer friends. They were made and given with 'encouragement' in mind as writing can be a very hard and lonely business.

That's what makes handcrafted cards special and worthwhile. Being able to lift someone's spirits, even just a little.
